Christian Farmers

Federation of Ontario

There were a few factors leading the CFFO to a branding update. Competition for members, inconsistency in their visual identity, and the desire to stand out from other organizations who had recently been confusing their messaging.

Blockhead led the design of this brand refresh project for the CFFOs non-denominational future.

BRAND DESIGN FOR LARGE ORGANIZATIONS

Client Wishlist

We’re looking for something identifiable and scalable that doesn’t lean on Christian symbols -we are open to members of any religion. We’re also trying to avoid confusion with religious non-profit groups, and a badge style for the brandmark would be ideal.

Challenges of a New Brandmark

It was settled early on in the process that the Christian imagery of past logo iterations would be cut altogether.

However, as an organization that aimed to represent farmers of all agricultural industries, the imagery could not get too specific. No cattle, grain, or other symbols that could relate to an individual area of farming. The CFFOs members were diverse cultivators, so focusing on only one would appear biased.

[Blockhead] made our logo rebrand a smooth and successful process. We wanted a modern approach to our logo while still incorporating our historical roots, which is exactly what Nicole delivered. After only two meetings, we were able to conceptualize and fine-tune our project, saving us time and headache.

Our members love our new logo, and we love having this logo represent CFFO.

Past, Present, Future

The sun and fields - which had been staples in previous versions of the logo over the years - kept the content of the badge identifiable to all who knew it, despite the modernization of the styling.

Being able to contain the brandmark to a badge option was an important aspect of the branding update. One of the CFFOs goals for the new logo was to incorporate it into merchandise for tradeshows and for sale through their website. A badge version was the best option for them to use for member’s merch across the board.
